About UsOur DistinctivesWe ambrace the historic Christian faith including:
What Happens On Sunday? We devote Sunday, biblically known as the Lord’s Day (Rev 1:10),to the worship and praise of our risen Lord and Savior. All our activities are designed to honor the Lord on His day (Isaiah 58:13) by setting it aside as a day of worship, rest, and fellowship. We desire to worship in a manner that is God-focused rather than man-focused. Our worship consists of the reading and preaching of the Word, prayer that includes the elements found in the Lord's Prayer, the singing of Psalms with grace in our heart, and communion at the Lord's Table (for those who have made a public profession of faith) where, by faith, we feed on body and blood of Christ. On a less frequent basis, it also includes the NT sacrament of Baptism, and days of prayer & fasting, or Thanksgiving.
After worship, we share a meal together(Acts 2:42), and gather again for a time of Bible study or singing. The first Sunday in the month, we spend time learning to sing the Psalms. When the Lord gives us a fifth Sunday, the afternoon hour is spent sharing our gifts in music, sharing testimonies of God's work in our life, or other edifying presentations.
Why the Emphasis on Worshipping as Families?Too often families come to church only to find their families split apart as soon as they walk in the door. The adults go one direction, the children go another, and sometimes do not see each other again until it is time to go home. Due to the nature of handling groups of other people's children, these children's programs often become entertainment with a spiritual flavor developing in children the expectation of being entertained at church and hindering them from learning to worship. We, at Crown and Covenant, will not separate you from your children; rather we will help you to raise your children in the fear and admonition of the Lord! God has given you precious arrows – children – to prepare for His service.
